First review: Lexar SDHC 4Gb memory card.
Well, there would be a lot to say about my experience with Lexar, but i'll try to keep this as simple as possible. Got a nikon d90 and a lexar 4Gb SDHC to store my pretious photos on it. Went for a trip in the mountains, took a bunch of nice photos (or at least i like to think so), got back. Did i mention that the hiking trip took us (me and my gf) about 14hours, in total? 6 hours to get to the mountain peak, 2 to climb some really big rocks (called Pietrele Doamnei, if you're curious and you heard about google.com) and another 6 hours to get back into the nearest town. Well, on the way back, we (actually, i) stopped to take some shots of some small waterfalls made by a creek that runs from those mountains (called Rarau) to the city of the Campulung. All fine and swell untill we stopped the second time. Then, my d90 said CHA and wouldn't change it's attitude towards that Lexar memory card. Replaced it with a Transcend memory card and continnued shooting.
Got home, and tried to recover my photos from that Lexar memory card. Contacted Lexar, they replied saying they're sorry i got problems using their memory card (oh, yeah, i'm sure they burst into tears when they heard about my problem) and offered some "sollutions"... which i bet were just some copy/paste from a faq they had somewhere...BUT IT WASN'T FOR A SD CARD. The CF card appeared in the e-mail they sent me. Very professional.
Tried a bunch of data recovery programs. They all showed the memory card to have 6.85Gb. Wow! i paid for a 4gb memory card, and got one that has 6.85gb. COOL! ... NOT! why? because the memory card can't be used anymore. Not on the PC, not with my d90. And i did try other PCs, other memory card readers, and another photo camera. I'm my chat with Lexar support (which, btw, gave me for free <
Here's a pic of the dreaded SD. My advice is to stay the hell away from it.
